Interstellar (2014)
Directed by
Christopher Nolan this film stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway,
Jessica Chastain, David Gyasi and Bill Irwin. Planet Earth is dying,
to survive humanity must look to the stars.
Without doubt this
film is standing on the shoulders of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and
while I do not think it hits the heights of that film or Nolan's own
earlier film Inception (2014) I do still think this is a great film
in it's own right. There are elements of the story I was not entirely
convinced with but they ultimately ended up working. The films is a
really good of study of human nature, especially our instinct for
survival and how that may help or hinder our chances for survival as
a species. I thought both the special effects and heavy use of
science were handled really well while Hans Zimmer delivers another
outstanding sound track.
