Romance of a Horsethief

Polonsky this film based on the novel of the same name stars Yul
Brynner, Eli Wallach, Jane Birkin and Henri Serre. As Russia goes to
war with Japan in 1904 Polish horse thieves find themselves out of
work.
The plot of this
period film is fairly thin and disappointingly all the big name
actors are shifted to supporting roles. There is not really a lot of
romance involved and all round this seems like a token effort. Some
of the image and sound quality is not always the best making it hard
to find much to recommend this film on.
