One Day (2011)
Based on the novel of
the same name this film from director Lone Scherfig stars Anne
Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Over a period of 20 years the friendship
of a working class woman and upper class man evolves.
When it comes to the
plot of this film there is nothing especially new here, a lot of the
plot is similar and predictable. The one gimmick the film does have
in it's favour is telling the story by looking at what the characters
are doing on the same date every year for 20 years. Execution wise
the film is not bad but as much as I like Anne Hathaway her accent in
this film does wander a fair amount.
