The Chronicles of
Riddick (2004)
Written and directed
by David Twohy this sequel stars Vin Diesel, Karl Urban and Judi
Dench. After spending years hiding on an ice planet Riddick is called
back to fight an army of world eaters.
Taking what was
originally a sleeper hit and a fairly simply sci-fi monster film the
idea was to turn this into a epic franchise based around the anti
hero Riddick. There are plenty of big set piece special effects
sequences but some of the direction of them is annoying at best with
and more likely disorientating rather than cool at times. When it
comes to the plot the main problem is that there is no character
development or growth for the protagonist.
