Rise of the Planet of
the Apes (2011)

Wyatt this film stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow and
Andy Serkis. While trying to develop a cure for Alzheimer's disease a
young scientist inadvertently creates a super intelligent chimp.
Serving as a reboot
rather than a remake this film is a really good point to start the
series from again and is littered with references to other films in
the franchise. The special effects used for the intelligent apes is
now CGI and is a bit improvement on the physical effects of earlier
films. While the plot is slightly slow burning it moves along
ominously and has some good characters but despite a really smart
premise it might lack a little thematic depth.
