Gone Baby Gone (2007)
Based on the novel of
the same name this directorial debut from Ben Afflect stars Casey
Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman. A private
detective and his girlfriend are asked to help in the search for a
missing 4 year old girl.
The plot for this film
is excellent, seemingly straight forward there it is full of twists
and turns so that even when you think the film is done it never is.
At it's centre the story does a great job of raising moral questions
for the audience without pushing an agenda or answers. What is really
good about the execution of the film is the understated nature of the
direction that lets the story do the work and the attention to detail
that helps build a realistic world to tell the story in. There are
also some really good performances from the cast making this a must
watch film.
