Take Shelter (2011)

by Jeff Nichols this film stars Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain.
A father is haunted by nightmares of an on coming natural disaster
and fears he is succumbing to mental illness as his mother did.
At the heart of this
film are two good performances from the stars as well as some good
direction that keeps a really good tone to this film. For 95% of the
film this is an excellent story about a man who may be descending
into mental illness and the affects this has on his life. It is hard
to say this without spoiling the film but the final scene really
destroys a lot of it's own hard work and sort of invalidates the
previous good work by going for a cheap twist that is entirely
unearned.
