Gordon Green this film inspired by real events stars Sandra Bullock,
Billy Bob Thornton, Anthony Mackie and Joaquim de Almeida. American
political advisors head to Bolivia to attempt to turn around the
fortunes of a political candidate.
Taking inspiration
from the 2002 Bolivian election this film never really seems to get
to grips with the issues and instead is too light of a take on the
subject. We never really get to know the candidate and the film gives
off too much of a vibe of Americans riding round the globe like they
are the only ones that understand democracy. The cast do the best
they can but I think the tone of the film is misplaced and the story
too obviously constructed at times.
