Anari (1959)

Mukherjee this film stars Raj Kapoor, Nutan, Lalita Pawar, Subha
Khote and Motilal. A poor man who is honest to a fault falls in love
with a woman who is a rich girl pretending to be poor.
This is a heart
warming romantic comedy in the style of classic Hollywood but with
that unmistakeable Bollywood polish to it. I really enjoyed the plot,
it may be a little obviously constructed but the story unfolds well
leading to a fair conclusion. Unfortunately the film stock is always
up to the quality of the rest of the film and while Raj Kapoor gives
a great performance he is a little old for his role.
