The Lonely Villa (1909)

Griffith this film based on the play Au Telephone stars David Miles,
Marion Leonard and Mary Pickford. When a man heads out criminals
break into his house and terrorise his wife and daughters.
Taking a simple plot
this film ends with a classic Griffith devise of tension over people
riding to a last minute rescue. Clearly this is a very early film so
lacks much complexity but it does what it sets out to do. What
direction and action there is is of acceptable levels.
