Hytner this film based on real events stars Alex Jennings and Maggie
Smith. Writer Alan Bennett moves to Camden in London and begins an
odd friendship with an eccentric homeless woman.
Capturing the style of
Alan Bennett well this comedy is a classic look at life through the
unique eyes of it's writer. There is a lot to enjoy here from the
writing to Smith's performance and the film is never overly
sentimental. I also enjoyed the elements of fourth wall breaking the
film has.
