Fill the Void (2012)
Written & directed
by Rama Burshtein this film stars Hadas Yaron, Chaim Sharir, Irit
Sheleg and Yiftach Klein. An 18 year old girl living in an Orthodox
community in Israel tries to decide if she should marry her sister's
widower or not.
Taking a Jane Austen
style look at love and marriage in a rigidly structured community
there is a fair amount to enjoy about this film. While the film gives
a really interesting look into a different culture it is a one sided
look and maybe a little stilted for some to get into. There are good
performances and the film really seems to capture the community it is
a part of.
