Bout de Zan Steals an Elephant (1913)
Directed by Louis Feuillade this film stars Rene Poyen, Jeanne Saint-Bonnet, Renee Carl, Juliette Malherbe and an elephant. A young boy meets an elephant, steals it and gets into various shenanigans with it.
“Never work with children or animals” is the axiom ignored in both parts in this French short film. There are a few funny moments along the way but this is not the most laugh filled comedy you will ever see. Clearly the elephant is well trained and that makes the film work.
