The Magician (1898)

Melies this is an early short film. A magician begins his act by
making a box appear on a table.
This is a pretty
simple exploration of the jump cut and the effect works well here
allowing for a crazy sequence of events. May be the film could do
with a clearer plot but it is entertaining. Relying on just one
camera trick repeatedly does not make this an overly remarkable film
but it is still very watchable.
