No puppets in sight

Captain Scarlett (1953)

Directed by Thomas Carr this film stars Richard Greene, Leonora Amar and Nedrick Young. A Frenchman returns home from the Napoleonic wars to find his lands taken from him.

Essentially this is a Robin Hood knock off set in 1800s France without much more thought put into it. Mexico doubles for France in a slightly dubious manner which does not help matters. All in all a rather weak attempt at a swashbuckler film.
