The Million Pound Note (1954)

Directed by Ronald Neame this film based on the short story “The Million Pound Bank Note” stars Gregory Peck and Jane Griffiths. A man without a penny to his name is given a million pounds that he is unable to spend.

There is not much subtlety to this film, it pretty much hammers home its moral so it is impossible to miss. I found the film to be enjoyable even if it lacks a soft touch. No real surprises show up and there is at least one or two sequences where they are clearly trying to pad out the run time.
