The Immigrant (1917)
Directed by star
Charlie Chaplin this film also features Edna Purviance and Eric
Campbell. While travelling on a ship to the USA the Tramp meets a
young woman and her mother.
Mixing the usual
excellent physical comedy with a touch of heart this is good example
of Chaplin's style. Funny through out this is a good watch that ages
well. Considering how much of the film appears to have been made on
the fly this is an impressive effort.
