Vallee this film based on real events stars Matthew McConaughey,
Jennifer Garner and Jared Leto. Diagnosed with AIDs in the 1980s a
man from Texas is unable to find decent treatment through legal means
so starts importing unapproved drugs.
It is hard to say how
close to real events this film sticks, especially as it seems to play
rather fast and loose with the medical science here in a way that is
a bit irresponsible. What is interesting about this film is it does
capture an important point in history where laws and medicine failed
a number of society's most vulnerable. There are some really
impressive performances that carry the film but otherwise it is a
little bit of a disappointment given all the praise it had.
