Singer this film stars Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Ewan
McGregor, Stanley Tucci and Ian McShane. A young boy goes to sell his
uncle's horse and cart but comes back with magic beans, what could
possibly go wrong?
This film takes the
classic fairy tale and attempts to expand it out into a pretty
standard coming of age tale, which it does fairly well but in an
unremarkable way. The setting for the story is a miss match of
fantasy and historical anachronism that never really becomes a
coherent world for me. In general the film is well made but it's
hodge-podge nature never really does anything to impress.
