Call Jane (2022)

Directed by Phyllis Nagy this film stars Elizabeth Banks, Sigourney Weaver and Chris Messina. In the 1960s US an upper middle class woman needs a life saving abortion but is unable to get on legally.

I really enjoyed the first third of this film, it is uncomfortable and very grounded. By the time the protagonist joins the underground network everything is just a bit too easy and unchallenged, we never get to see what happens when anything goes really wrong. A little bit more realism would have gone a long way in the rest of the film.
