The summer heat

Labor Day (2013)

Directed by Jason Reitman this film based on the novel of the same name stars Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin and Gattlin Griffith. A teenage boy and his mother spend labor day weekend in their house with an escaped convict.

Initially this film is incredibly ominous but settles into a story of frustrated sexual urges and coming of age for the protagonist. Nothing about the plot is that impressive and in some areas you could say it's a little worrying but it does the job. Where this film excels massively is the direction and acting which keep the film constantly moody as well as rife with sexual tension.
