The Oyster Princess
(1919)
Directed by Ernst
Lubitsch this film stars Victor Janson, Ossi Oswalda, Harry Liedtke
and Julius Falkenstein. The spoiled daughter of a rich oyster
merchant demands a husband while a broke prince needs a rich wife.
The plot of this film
is fairly basic and just about fits in a case of mistaken identity to
the 60 minute run time. There are a lot of references to American
consumerism and mass production in execution of the film but none of
these seem to really go anywhere and really contradict the ending if
anything. While there are some funny moments I would not say this
film is funny through out.
