Panic in the Streets
(1950)
Directed by Elia Kazan
this film stars Richard Widmark, Paul Douglas, Barbara Bel Geddes and
Jack Palance. A military doctor and a police captain work together to
try and hunt down the first cases of plague in New Orleans.
There is not much
panic involved in the plot of this film as the characters actually do
a pretty good job of stopping a potential disaster. In the end this
is a pedestrian effort that does not really get carried away with
things or have very high stakes. The direction is not exactly
impressive and all in all this is a very middle of the road film
3/5
