Fences (2016)

Denzel Washington this film based on the play of the same name also
features Viola Davies, Stephen Henderson and Jovan Adepo. A 53 year
old man struggles to provide for his family and find his place in the
world during the 1950s.
This is an excellent
look at the struggles facing African-Americans during the 1950s as
well as the problems that face the working class in general. Dialogue
is king here and the rapid fire exchanges between characters are
excellent. For the most part the direction stays out of the way and
lets the flawed characters shine through, only the final moment is a
little heavy handed for my tastes.
