The Phenom (2016)
Written & directed
by Noah Buschel this film stars Johnny Simmons, Paul Giamatti, Ethan
Hawke and Sophie Kennedy Clark. A sports psychologist tries to help a
young professional baseball pitcher deal with mental issues
affecting his game.
For a sports film this
is a fairly low key effort and it benefits greatly from the gentle
touch of the film makers. While I found the plot maybe a little
inconclusive this is still a decent look into the pressures faced by
young sports stars. In particular Johnny Simmons is very good in the
lead role, I just wish this film had been a little longer.
