Children playing at violence

Sixteen (2013)

Written & directed by Rob Brown this film stars Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Rosie Day and Rachel Stirling. A sixteen year old refugee now living in England struggles to come to terms with his past as a child soldier and witnesses a stabbing.

This is a really good low budget British film that deals with some serious issues very well. Instead of over doing things this is a subtle slow burner that does not get melodramatic. The highlight of the film is the excellent performance from young star Roger Jean Nsengiyumva who really captures the conflict in his character during pivotal moments.
