Lawless (2012)

Hillcoat this film based on real events stars Shai LaBeouf, Tom
Hardy, Jessica Chastain and Jason Clarke. During Prohibition three
brothers from a rural county bootleg moonshine and come up against
corrupt law officers.
The plot of this film
is a classic American mythologising of it's criminal past that fits
in well with the tradition of romanticising the illegal and ruthless.
Not a lot makes the story stand out from the slew of similar films
that come out from Hollywood. John Hillcoat has directed some really
impressive films but this is probably his more average and while I am
a big fan of Guy Pearce his performance tends towards camp and is a
bit out of place really.
