Bloody long mate

Australia (2008)

Directed by Baz Luhrmann this film stars Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackson and David Wenham. An English aristocrat goes to Australia in 1939 to help her husband sell their cattle station.

There are two fairly obvious problems with this film, it's length and inconsistent tone. At times it really seems that this film does not know what it wants to be which does not help as the story is pretty cliché and the characters fairly weak. Some of the special effects are overly reliant on CGI which is too obvious at times which is a disappointment given the great Australian scenery on view here.

2/5
