Follow the leader

Sound of My Voice (2011)

Directed by Zal Batmanglij this film stars Brit Marling, Christopher Denham and Nicole Vicius. Two aspiring film makers seek to expose a secretive cult as a sham it soon becomes confusing as to what is actually going on.

This film does a good job of subtlety drawing in both the viewers and the central characters to show how cults slowly begin to change your thoughts. Much of the film is done in a low key way and this really helps build the confusing and seductive nature of the cult. While the film does not have the same atmosphere as Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011) or such overt threats it does cover somewhat similar material.
