Directed by Todd Haynes this film loosely inspired by real events stars Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore and Charles Melton. An actress goes to meet a child sex offender and her victim, now husband, ahead of playing her in a film.
I am conflicted about this film, I really can not tell if this uncomfortable look at an uncomfortable subject is indulging in the things it criticises or provides an apt criticism. Does the film ever properly get to grips with the subject matter or is it just trying too hard to be a Bergman film? Ultimately I just did not get this one I think despite all the praise it seems to be getting.
