The first use of shakey cam

Lancement d'un navire (1896)

Directed by Louis Lumiere this is an early short film. We see the launch of a ship.

The image quality of this film is really good, unfortunately the shot is framed so we only see the hull of the ship not the whole beast. Despite the questionable framing I really enjoyed this one, you get a real sense of the moment from the way the people react and the camera shakes. You definitely feel the movement of the ship in this one.

3/5
