Memory: The Origins of Alien (2019)
Written and directed by Alexandre O. Philippe this documentary has interviews with a number of people that worked on Alien (1979). We look into the origins of the horror sci-fi film that has spawned a franchise.
Often these types of documentaries can end up being an exercise in masturbation, thankfully this one shows some restraint. The film does a decent job of exploring not only the origins of Alien but also showing what it takes to elevate something from being a genre piece to being art. My only disappointment with the film is that it lacks any new interviews with the major players like Ridley Scott.
