The Standoff at Sparrow
Creek (2018)
Written & directed
by Henry Dunham this film stars James Badge Dale, Brian Geraghty and
Patrick Fischler. Texans in a militia believe one of their number is
responsible for a mass murder at a police funeral and try to find the
culprit.
There is clearly skill
in the dialogue and the tense set up of this film but I am really not
sure what the plot is ultimately trying to say. In the end I felt a
little bit uncomfortable that the same type of yahoos that are
depicted in this film might find the plot supporting their anti
police sentiment. I will be interested to see what Dunham makes next
but this film is not without a major misstep in my opinion.
