The Artist and the City
(1956)
Written & directed
by Manoel de Oliveira this is a short film returning to a familiar
subject for the film maker. An artist wanders round the city of
Porto.
As a record a
historical record this film probably has more value than as a piece
of entertainment. There are some nice images and decent editing but
ultimately the film does not really have a narrative drive. Fun to
see the images but not much more than that in my opinion.
