The One-Man Band (1900)
Directed by and
staring Georges Melies this is an early short film. Using magic a man
replicates himself until there are enough copies for a band.
Despite being very
simple in content this is a nice early use of special effects to
create a nice camera trick. There isn't much plot but it is
impossible not to be impressed by the use of multiple exposures to
get the desired effect here. If you have seen the film Hugo (2011)
then this is exactly the sort of thing you expect from Melies.
