Outside Bet (2012)

Bennett this adaptation of the novel “The Mumper” stars Bob
Hoskins, Calum MacNab, Jenny Agutter and Emily Atack. It is 1985 in
London and a group of newspaper union employees by a race horse.
Nothing about the
script for this film is subtle and every character is painted in the
broadest, most simplistic strokes. There are some vague mumblings
about union struggles but the main moral of this film seems to be
it's a good idea to bet your life savings on a horse which is not the
smartest idea. The cast has a number of well known British television
actors but has far too many characters to really give anyone a chance
to shine in this short run time.
