The War of the Roses
(1989)
Based on the novel of
the same name this film from director Danny DeVito features Michael
Douglas, Kathleen Turner and the director himself. A wealthy married
couple divorce in what becomes a bitter battle for their house.
Highly successful in
it's day this film was the third collaboration between it's
triumvirate of stars. While the film does have it's funny moments it
does feel like it takes far too long for the time to actually get to
the actual war which only takes up the last half or so of the film.
There are good performances from the cast and the family house does
work well as a metaphor for the relationship of the couple.
