Now! (1965)
Directed by Santiago
Alvarez this film uses pictures and films combined with the music of
Lena Horne. We see the injustices visited on African Americans during
the Civil Rights Era.
Undoubtedly this is
anti American propaganda from communist Cuba but it strikes the mark
with it's criticism of race relations in America. The combination of
images works well but does not combine as cohesively as say La Jetee
(1962). While this is a good watch I am not sure it becomes more than
the sum of it's parts.
