Ghost of the China Sea
(1958)
Directed by Fred F.
Sears this film stars David Brian, Lynn Bernay, Jonathan Haze and
Norman Wright. In 1941 in the Philippines an former army officer
helps a rag tag group of civilians escape the on coming Japanese
invasion.
Not especially subtle
or complicated this is a basic action film that was clearly made on
the cheap. The characters have little depth and there is a lot of
telling rather than showing when it comes to their emotional
development. There are some slightly suspect stereotypes a long the
way but otherwise the film is not too badly made for its limitations.
