Playing with lights

Luxo Jr. (1986)

Directed by John Lasseter this is a short film that served as proof of concept for CGI and helped launch Pixar. A lamp watches a smaller lamp play with a bouncy ball.

This short is everything Pixar does best from the animation to telling a simple but clear story with a heart to it. It is really impressive how so much is done with so little to convey a human story with two electrical lamps and a ball. At the time the animation was ground breaking and holds up today.
