Love and Moors

The Castilian (1963)

Directed by Javier Seto this film based on historical events stars Espartaco Santoni, Tere Velazquez, Ceasar Romero and Broderick Crawford. Following his brother's death a nobleman becomes Count of Castile and seeks to free his lands from the Moors.

It seems actual history goes out the window in favour of a simple romantic plot with a bunch of battles and ideas about freedom via dictatorship of a noble. The plot is not too bad really but if you want anything accurate to history or with any depth this is the wrong place to look. Most of the execution of the film is fairly cheap and the dubbing is pretty dire at times.
