Connections without connecting

Men, Women & Children (2014)

Directed by Jason Reitman this film based on the novel of the same name stars Rosemarie DeWitt, Jennifer Garner, Adam Sandler, Ansel Elgort and many others. Teenagers and their parents in Texas fail to connect over modern technology and sex.

Unlike a lot of people I liked this film, it's not the perfect exploration of it's subject matter but it puts on screen a lot of things that are rarely captured or talked about. More time with each story would have helped but the film manages to keep a fairly even handed approach showing both the positives and negatives of technological communication these days. It really helps that there is a great cast and while the film does push into pretentious territory a little I still found it a good watch.
