The Great Adventure of
Horus, Prince of the Sun (1968)

Takahata this animated film has voice acting from Hisako Okata,
Mikijiro Hira and Etsuko Ichihara. A young man pulls a sword from a
rock giant and goes to fight a demon.
If you want an example
of a standard hero's journey this film covers it pretty simply. The
story is serviceable but not very deep, the world problem is clear
but it lacks a character problem for the hero to over come as well.
Some of the animation is a little on the rudimentary side but it
holds together pretty well.
