High Anxiety (1977)
Directed by and
staring Mel Brooks this parody film also features Madeline Kahn,
Cloris Leachman and Harvey Korman. A psychologist takes over as the
head of psychiatric hospital and investigates some suspicious
activity.
With a clear target of
the work of Alfred Hitchcock there are a number of nods to his work,
especially Vertigo (1958), and several funny moments through out the
film. Where the film falls down is that neither the humour or the
plot are enough to sustain interest in the film. While it is fun to
spot the numerous references the film could have done with a little
more meat on it's bones.
