Island in the Sky

Wellman this film stars John Wayne, Lloyd Nolan, Walter Able and
James Arness. An army cargo plane is forces to land in uncharted
territory in Northern Canada which rescue teams struggle to find.
This is an early
attempt at a disaster film and while it lacks some tension and does
not really focus on the survival aspects of the story it is not bad.
Unusually John Wayne plays a more reserved character that has to sit
around and wait to be saved rather than the more proactive roles he
is known for. Mostly the script sticks to realism and the special
effects are not too bad but the film does lack some character depth.
