The Way (2010)
Written & directed
by Emilio Estevez this film stars Martin Sheen, Deborah Kara Unger,
Yorick van Wageningen and James Nesbitt. An American ophthalmologist
travels to Europe to collect his son's body and decides to walk the
pilgrimage his son died on.
Considering the film
is based on a religious concept the story does a really good job of
not pushing religion and instead offering a more neutral story. While
this is a fairly simple story it still does a decent job of capturing
the nature and camaraderie of popular long walking trails. There are
decent if unremarkable performances from the cast and the direction
does a good job of keeping out of the way.
