Moana (2016)
Directed by Ron
Clements & John Musker with Don Hall & Chris Willams as
co-directors this animated film has voices from Auli'i Cravalho and
Dwanye Johnson. A young Polynesian woman bucks the tribes tradition
by wanting to go out and explore, she goes on an adventure with a
demi-god.
Not entirely faithful
to the tradition of Polynesian culture this is still a fun Disney
adventure and while aimed at younger viewers is good enough for all
ages. I enjoyed the film but it did lack a big of emotional depth as
it wanders through it's familiar hero's journey. The animation is
good but does not stand out compared to it's contemporaries.
