Woodland worries wobbled

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (2012)

Directed by Chris Renaud and Kyle Balda this animated film uses the voice talent of Zac Efron, Danny DeVito, Ed Helms and Taylor Swift. In an attempt to impress a girl a boy from a town that is overly reliant on industry searches for a tree.

What always stands out most about Dr. Seuss' writing is his use of language but sadly that has been nearly completely removed from the script of this film. The plot is a pretty standard environmentalist story that lacks the humour and subtly of industry leaders Pixar. Apart from Danny DeVito it seems the cast was mostly chosen for their appeal to younger viewers rather than because they have interesting voices.
