Scott of the Antarctic
(1948)
Directed by Charles
Frend this film based on real events stars Sir John Mills, James
Robertson Justice, Derek Bond and Kenneth More. We follow Captain
Scott's final ill fated attempted to be the first man to the South
Pole.
Largely sticking to
historical events this is a fairly faithful recreation of events with
a clear focus on British stiff upper lip. Making early use of
Technicolor, especially for British cinema, the film sadly does not
really capitalise much on being in colour. Well made for the budget
and technical restrictions this is not an overly remarkable film
sadly.
