Frears this film based on real events stars Judi Dench, Ali Fazal and
Eddie Izzard. An Indian man travels to England and becomes a servant
to Queen Victoria.
On the surface this is
a fairly funny film but the deeper one digs into the events portrayed
the more questions one has. Both historical inaccuracy and some
underlying racism ultimately make this a bit of an uneasy watch. I
expected better from Stephen Frears, this film is a disappointment in
the end.
